THE INDEPENDENCE & LIBERTY

That School In Downtown

Every time when I got to pass by your school in downtown,

the natural sunlight that shone into your school often had my gaze turned in …

You were the school with the full front glass, with lots of sunlight shining in and plenty of colourful elements contained within the space.

I would often have to pass by your school when I went about my errands in downtown.

Little would I expect that we crossed path both in the first and second campus, before the Wu Han outbreak and after the easing of covid-19 measures, and we even had a couple of “Home-Based Learning” where our classes were conducted from the little art studio that I ran. Videos on, and boy were you so relaxed on the couch…

I can’t remember whether it was a Wednesday or some other days.

I would be so excited each time and looking forward to travel to downtown to see you after my mornings at the farm.

We had our art class once a week for less than an hour, and the less actually graciously guided us to so much more.

I got to create lesson plans for us, where it was usually already created.

I got to source and purchase art materials for us, where it was usually already provided.

I got to see you and do art with you at a pretty relaxed pace, where it manifested the space for more creativity and balance.

I enjoyed seeing you in your most natural playful selves, while we planted in some instructions to see us through the art.

…..

Being able to experience a part of your free spirit, originality and spectrum of emotions has created a home ground where we can just be ourselves and grow together through the art.

It is not just about the length of time. It is also about the depth of life.
