A Little Coffee. A Little Latte Art.
Art is everywhere.
It is a living experience that comes in all forms.
It is standing on the pathway in bright daylight and being reminded that you need to go to the store to get something cute or very legitimate.
Have fun. Learn something. Share and serve with your heart.
Let’s create something meaningful together.
It was being able to dress in very comfortable clothings, starting work at 5am in the morning and being the best team with your co-worker.
I have seen a small bakery shop run by a couple who seem very dedicated to their craft. It’s simple, neat, clean and responsible. That’s good busyness.
Be happy with the food that we have, because someone out there is begging for one.
Be open to your environment. It’s good to have lots of fun, movement and to just soak it all in.
At the end of the day, ask yourself,
“What are the qualities and values that I would like to build?”
“What is the mess and the backlog?”
“Can I do a little something today to make it better?”
Treat Yourself Sweetly
It’s briefly finding out that the Hot Cross Bun is their country’s domestic tradition associated with Good Friday and seeing the excitement on my customer’s face and also feeling their utter disappointment when it was sold out on one of her patronage.
I enjoyed the neat conversations with the folks, serving them the hot meals and coffee.
We learn a lot from our struggles and from listening to the struggles of others. Remember to treat yourself sweetly.
I enjoyed barista-ring on our drinks menu when we got really busy with our customers. It trains me to get focused and to find a good rhythm. Time is important, not just for ourselves but for everyone.
We can have very beautiful and delicious beverages crafted into the menu. Remember that it has to work throughout the different times of the day, whether it is relaxing or super busy. Being flexible and open to the different methods of preparation and adjusting the options that are available on the menu and such, are very important to effective workflow and operation. We are literally dealing with the time of every single person.
Don’t be lazy during the quiet times, sure take a good break and be reasonably productive on the relaxing days, use it to improve the work, because the busy and critical times are always going to come and it is the time we give our best shot.
Be Nice. Make It At Home.
Imagine you work in a coffeeshop or retail shop or the best of both worlds combined. It’s a great opportunity to learn the ropes of running a place.
We meet people from all walks of life. We want to make the best of everyday whether it is with a co-worker, your boss, the patrons or the neighbors. You want to be friendly and you want to be firm with your ground.
There will be times where the interaction feels like it is worth paying extra attention and care to. Here is where we stay vigilant, be observant and learn to connect behaviours and patterns of a timeline, and analyse them based on our logic, intuition and more. Read them and respect God. Your safety comes first, communicate and share, ask for help and draw a good boundary.
Patrons deserve a good environment to have conversations over coffee and bakes, to rest and relax and to do work. They are the cutest.
Be a person who knocks on the door, have a conversation and bring out the best and the humblest of your caliber. Here’s where we have so much fun.
You are going to be the front-of-house, the salesman, the barista, the storeman, the housekeeper, the handyman, the designer, the everything-in-between and spending the nights in the office when the work piles up. Just like being at home. It’s a real metaphor for the versatility of life. Be grateful for the little things you have in your life right now. And when the bigger things come to you, you want to make it really purposeful in your lifetime.
Build a little resilience into the chapters of your life on earth, because it is ups and downs, and everything in between. It makes you you, and it’s just pretty amazing.
